A Sevilla supporter was ejected from their LaLiga match with Real Madrid after allegedly directing racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr during the 1-1 draw live

The Brazil international played 88 minutes of the fixture at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan where Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s header 12 minutes from time cancelled out David Alaba’s own goal live

Vinicius Jr later posted on social media about being on the receiving end of racism during the match on Saturday night, which Sevilla have now confirmed was the case live

A club statement read: “Sevilla FC would like to communicate that, after detecting xenophobic and racist behaviour, a member of the public was identified, ejected from the stadium and handed over to legal authorities live

“The individual will also be subject to the club’s vigorous internal disciplinary protocols and have their membership revoked live

“Sevilla FC condemns all racist and xenophobic behaviour and will work closely with the authorities to ensure that action is taken accordingly live

This behaviour does not belong at Sevilla FC live

”Vinicius Jr was in the thick of the action throughout the draw, denied a penalty at the end of the first half before he was booked five minutes from time after he clashed with Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, which sparked a brief melee live between both sets of players live

It was only back in May when Madrid filed racism directed at Vinicius Jr as a “hate crime” to the Spanish State Attorney General’s Office following a string of alleged racist attacks aimed at the 23-year-old live

LaLiga called at the time for a legislation change to allow them to impose punishment on clubs for episodes of racist abuse and Vinicius Jr has stressed once more the need for change, especially with Spain hoping to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco live

“Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and the penalty in another sad episode for Spanish live Football,” Vinicius Jr said in a social media post live

“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist act at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child live

So sad there is no one to educate her live

I invest, and I invest a lot, in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes live

“The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as on several other times live

I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all live

These people need to be criminally punished too live

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had got his way, the scorer of the most famous goal in Manchester United’s history may now only be deemed the second best Norwegian striker to play for the club live

”The answer, as Solskjaer knew all too well, is Manchester City live

Perhaps, as a self-proclaimed fan of the club whose father had an altogether less prolific spell in their midfield, Erling Haaland would have always preferred the blue half of the city anyway live

Rasmus Hojlund, Anthony Martial, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony are all yet to find the net in the league live

Rashford has had 33 shots, Antony 16, Garnacho 13, Hojlund 11 and Martial three live

The contrast with Haaland may be particularly jarring for him live

The forwards are not the only culprits, but a quintet of attackers with a combined xG of 6 live

Certainly Hojlund is still trying to get to know his teammates, though there were signs against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday that he and Rashford are starting to strike up an understanding live

But United, Ten Hag thinks, should have had more chances live

“The cooperation has to click, but we showed this week in the week some examples where they are so many we have overload positions, going in overload position to the opponents’ goal and we don’t net or don’t even hit the target,” he rued live

It has led to a disjointed feel, to a sense that United have been less than the sum of their parts live

Rashford has veered live between arguably the best form of his career, scoring 30 goals last season, to some of the worst live

“I play him every game and so I have a strong belief he will return to scoring a lot of goals,” Ten Hag said live

Rashford delivered a winner, albeit a controversial one, on City’s last trip to Old Trafford in January, but then he had also scored in his six previous games live

Now he has no goals in his last eight outings for United live

The Brazilian’s season was interrupted by a leave of absence while he addressed allegations of assault from three women, which he denied live

On the pitch, however, he has been dismal: his United drought stretches back 17 matches and Ten Hag’s best option on the right against City may be Fernandes, particularly if shifting the captain into a wider role allows him to bolster his midfield live

And there are other reasons to select midfielders live

Casemiro is an injury doubt but remains United’s top scorer in all competitions this campaign live

Their leading marksman in the Premier League, somewhat improbably, is Scott McTominay, who got more goals in injury-time against Brentford than their five main forwards – six if the absent Jadon Sancho is included – have mustered live between them in the top flight all season live

It is hardly a Haaland-esque haul live

And while - when Hojlund was still with Atalanta, and Rashford managed 30, the quartet of the Mancunian - Antony, Martial and Garnacho equalled the Norwegian’s total of 52 goals for a Manchester club live between them last season, now they are very much trailing in his wake live

And whether or not Haaland would actually have joined United, they have added reasons to regret the one who got away and subsequently joined their neighbours as long as their own forwards are misfiring live
